Refrigeration and probiotics is an important and often asked question. The answer has to do with the stability of the probiotic and is true for both probiotics for pets and probiotics for humans. If a probiotic needs to be refrigerated to be able to survive, then what are the chances that the strains will survive when they enter the body?
Unstable probiotics
An unstable probiotic needs to be kept refrigerated because they start to die around 60 degrees. When the unstable probiotic comes in contact with the body, it may die in the stomach acid and bile before it can even reach the intestine. The intestines are where probiotics need to travel in order to do their job. If you're using a probiotic that dies in the stomach, you're wasting your money.
Probiotics need to be able to pass through the stomach acid and bile so they can plant themselves in the intestine where they multiply and take effect.
Stable probiotics
A stable probiotic is the the right probiotic. A stable probiotic is a higher quality supplement and can be stored at room temperature without losing efficacy. A stable probiotic should be fully effective even after shipping and when stored on your shelf. A stable probiotic should survive the stomach acid and bile to implant the intestines. Of course, the shelf life of a good probiotic can be extended by refrigeration or freezing (if the container is closed securely to prevent moisture), but typically, a good probiotic should be able to survive 1 year at room temperature.
Probiotic Miracle contains 6 stabilized strains of healthy bacteria, 2 billion CFUs per dose. Our probiotics are tested and guaranteed to survive shipping, and survive digestion to work on the intestine—crowding out bad bacteria and multiplying healthy flora hundred fold. The probiotic strains contained in Probiotic Miracle are guaranteed at expiration, not just at the time of manufacture. Best of all, Probiotic Miracle® is a researched formula design specifically for the needs of dogs and cats. This is NOT a human probiotic formula.

"[The Miracle Pack] works great! Within a few weeks there has been a huge improvement in all 3 of my dogs. Hair shedding reduced to almost "zero" where as before the supplements, I could hardly pet my blue heeler, her coat was coarse, and shed abundantly...and now its silky and hardly sheds at all! No more "gassy" issues! My basset mix, would leave half of his food in the dish...now he sits in his spot and barks until I bring his food!
Also..No more running to a "grass patch" since they have been on both the probiotic and enzymes! It is a "little" costly in the beginning, but for 3 dogs it averages to $13.00 a month, so for $4.33 a month per dog is inexpensive to me for their great health! (wish I could get by with that!) "

"My poor pup had such a weak tummy; by the time he was 4, he couldn't make it through the night without an accident. I tried every locally available doggy probiotic with no success. I took him to the vet and she gave us packets -- expensive (about $15/week) and helped a little, but I still wasn't satisfied. I've just ordered the Miracle products for the 3rd time. My pup is healthier, happier, and can eat treats again without suffering later! I'm sold! There's no better product for pets with weak tummies; believe me! I've tried them all."
